Roberts is Humboldt State’s only three-time football All-American and one of its all-time great pass receivers. He helped propel the Lumberjacks into the Holiday Bowl in 1960 and caught 147 passes for 2429 yards and 20 touchdowns during a brilliant four-year career at Humboldt State. The 6-2, 200-pounder subsequently played in the Coaches’ All-America game, had a tryout with the Oakland Raiders and was with the semi-pro Humboldt Foresters team one season. He also played three years of varsity basketball and baseball and competed with the track team as long jumper one year.
