ARCATA — (Oct. 20) Four Lumberjacks tallied double figure kills and Maya Domoto collected a match-high 30 digs as Humboldt State's volleyball team broke a six-match losing streak with a 30-17, 26-30, 30-24, 30-25 win over visiting Cal State Stanislaus Friday night in the East Gym.

The Lumberjacks improve to 7-12 overall and 4-11 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association while the Warriors fall to 10-12 overall and 6-9 in league play.

“We played really smart and served tough,” said HSU head coach Sue Woodstra. “The four players in double figures was nice too.”

Mallory Briney led the surge in the first game, putting down five kills as the Jacks hit .290 and claimed a 30-17 win.

Humboldt lost it's stride a bit in the second game, committing 11 attack errors for a .100 attack percentage.

Putting signs of their recent inconsistent play aside in the third game, the Jacks pulled out a 30-24 win, led by six kills by Katie Norkunas and four by Lynsey Adams.

In the fourth game, the Jacks hit a match-high .273, committing just six attack errors ont heir way to a 30-25 win.

Norkunas paced Humboldt with 14 kills, along with 13 digs and five blocks. Briney added 13 kills while Lynsey Adams and Kristen Kinzer had 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Kinzer had a team-high five blocks for the Jacks who had 10 total team blocks.

Humboldt hosts Chico State Saturday at 7 p.m. in the East Gym.
