CHICO — (Sept. 15) No. 16 nationally ranked Chico State proved to be too much for Humboldt State to handle, claiming a 30-19, 30-21, 30-18 decision in California Collegiate Athletic Association volleyball action Friday.
The Lumberjacks fall to 5-4 overall and 2-3 in the CCAA while the Wildcats improve to 9-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
Humboldt had just 25 kills, along with 19 attack errors for a 0.65 hitting percentage. Along with their poor attack percentage, the Jacks also had 11 receive errors.
Olivia Solomon and
Lynsey Adams had eight kills apiece for the Jacks while
Maya Domoto had 11 digs.
Chico State was paced by Lindsay Macias' 13 kills while Gillian Heydorff added 10.
The Lumberjacks were able to keep each of the three games close for a while, but the Wildcats eventually pulled away in every game, putting together series of points down the stretch.
Humboldt will look to bounce back Saturday when it travels to Turlock to face Cal State Stanislaus at 7 p.m.
