Jacks and Gators play to 2OT draw

SAN FRANCISCO — (Sept. 17) After battling for 110 minutes, neither Humboldt State or San Francisco State could find the back of the net as the two men's soccer teams played to a 0-0 draw in California Collegiate Athletic Association action Sunday.

The Lumberjacks move to 4-2-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the CCAA while the Gators are now 2-5-1 overall and 1-3-1 in conference play.

“Obviously we we came down here to win, but a tie on the road is okay,” said HSU head coach Andy Cumbo. “Drew Ryan had another good game and we had opportunities to score, we just couldn't close it out.”

Ryan tallied his second straight shutout while picking up nine saves in the game.

Humboldt, which has been struggling in the final third of the field, took 13 shots, seven on goal, but were shutout for the entire 110 minutes.

San Francisco State had 20 shots, 13 on goal, but was also unable to find the back of the net.

Humboldt plays three games in Arcata next week, hosting Pacific Union College Thursday for a non-conference match-up, followed by CCAA opponents Cal State Stanislaus on Friday and Chico State on Sunday.
