ARCATA — (Sept. 22) Kim Halloran scored a pair of goals, including the sudden victory overtime goal, leading Humboldt State's women's soccer team to a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Cal State Stanislaus Friday in Arcata.

The California Collegiate Athletic Association win moves the Lumberjacks to 6-4-0 overall and an even 3-3-0 in conference play. The Warriors fall to 3-4-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the CCAA.

“I'm pleased with how the team played today,” said HSU head coach Andy Cumbo. “Our overall objective was to possess the ball through the midfield and build the attack from there.”

Stanislaus struck first in the match when Marti Teunissen headed in a cross from Domanique Roberts at the 16:06 mark of the game.

Humboldt countered just nine minutes later in a long lofting shot by Kim Halloran. The senior midfielder collected the ball outside the box and, with no teammate to pass to, turned and sent the ball just out of the reach of Warriors' keeper Jessica Sitarz.

Much of the second half was spent in the Warriors' end of the field as Humboldt continuously built up their attack, but was unable to create any solid shot opportunities.

Knotted at 1-1 at the end of regulation, the Lumberjacks won the kick off in overtime and immediately played the ball deep into the Warriors' end. Katie Coppoletta got off a quick shot that was blocked by Stanislaus' keeper Sammi Sheppard, but Halloran was right there to slam the ball into the back of the net.

“Kim is playing at the top of her game right now,” said Cumbo. “She has great vision, she knows when to pass and when to shoot.”
 
The Lumberjacks return to the field Sunday for a 12:30 p.m. CCAA match-up against Chico State.
