ARCATA — (Jan. 25) Surviving a three-point blitzkrieg, Humboldt State held off Cal State Stanislaus for as 94-88 California Collegiate Athletic Association men's basketball victory on Saturday.

With the win, Humboldt State improved to 13-3 overall and 8-3 in league games. Cal State Stanislaus fired up 37 three-pointers, making 12, but that assault wasn't enough to keep the Warriors from dropping to 9-9 overall and 4-6 in the CCAA.

While the Warriors were firing away from long range, the Jacks dominated the inside. Devin Peal scored 23 points, most coming in the paint, and Kevin Johnson added 15 points and a season-high 17 rebounds.

Also scoring in double figures for HSU were Jeremiah Ward, with 17 points, and Grayson Moyer, with 15. The Lumberjacks shot 54 percent from the field, making only four of their 16 three-pointers, while the Warriors finished 40 percent from the field and 32 percent from three-point range.

The Lumberjacks led by as many 12 points on two occasions, once in the first half and once in the second. But the resilient Warriors kept up the assault, drawing within three points on a layup by Heath Colvin with 11 seconds remaining. Moyer made a free throw and Peal dropped home two to preserve the victory.

Colvin was the Warriors' top scorer with 21 points, while Duane Jones scored 16 points, including four three-pointers. Former Lumberjack Rick Cardoso scored 13 points and grabbed nine points for Cal State Stanislaus.

Humboldt State is back on the floor Saturday, hosting Chic State in a CCAA matchup.
