ARCATA — (Feb. 3) Humboldt State shot a dismal 33 percent from the field, including a 1-for-16 performance from beyond the arc, as they fell 59-49 to Cal State San Bernardino Saturday in the East Gym.
The Lumberjacks, who lost in the East Gym for just the second time this season, drop to 14-5 overall and 9-5 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. The Coyotes improve to 12-6 on the season and 8-5 in league play.
Humboldt missed it's first four field goal attempts and were down 6-0 before
Katie Wilder sunk a layup three minutes in. Moments later
Biava Arganda made good on a three pointer, the only Lumberjack three of the game, cutting the deficit to 6-5.
After going down by as many as 12 points at the 7:18 mark of the first half, the Jacks went on a 11-1 run, bringing the score to 25-23 in favor of the Coyotes, but would take a nine-point deficit into the locker room at half time.
The second half was more of the same for the Lumberjacks as they never found their shooting touch and would get no closer than seven points.
Wilder had a game-high 18 points for Humboldt while
Mia Spasowska chipped in 16.
Jennifer Enos, who has had the hot hand as of late, was just 2-for-9 from the field for four points.
Rachel Johnson came off the bench to score 15 points for the Coyotes, including four treys. Vanessa Wilt, CSUSB's leading scorer, was held to just 10 points on the night.
Humboldt hits the road for the next two weeks, opening play Friday at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
