Megan Sutherland slammed a two out, walk off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning, giving Humboldt State's softball team a 3-2 win over CSU Monterey Bay Monday. In the nightcap, Humboldt exploded for 16 hits in a 10-2 five-inning win.
The Lumberjacks improve to 18-3 overall and 9-1 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play. The Otters fall to 8-21 overall and 3-15 in the CCAA.

Francesca West had RBI singles in the bottom of the sixth to put the Jacks on top 2-0.
In the top of the sixth the Otters' Jessica Boyle hit a two-run homer over the centerfield fence to tie the game, but Sutherland broke that tie with her solo shot in the ninth.
Humboldt had just seven hits in the game, making contact against pitcher Ramona Garcia, but hitting balls right at the Otters' fielders.
Lizzy Prescott (10-1) went the distance in the circle for Humboldt, striking out eight while giving up three hits.
In the nightcap, the Lumberjacks' bats got going early as they tallied two runs in the second and seven in the third. West and
Nancy Harbeson had back-to-back home runs in the third inning to spark the big lead.
After relief pitcher Hannah Mullen-Jones gave up two runs in the top of the forth, West tallied an RBI single to end the game in the bottom of the fifth.
Tracy Motzny picked up her ninth win of the season, striking out three while not allowing a hit.
The Lumberjacks host Sonoma State Friday in a CCAA doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. on the HSU Softball Field.
