TURLOCK — (March 29) Lizzy Prescott tallied 16 strikeouts, one shy of her career-high, and did not allow a hit as Humboldt Stat's softball team claimed a 3-0 win over Chaminade University Thursday in Turlock. In the second game of the non-conference doubleheader, the Lumberjacks earned an 8-0 six-inning victory.

The Lumberjacks have now won 16 straight and improve to 30-3 overall. The Silverswords fall to 7-22 on the season.

Prescott (16-1) retired the first nine Chaminade batters with strikeouts and did not allow a runner on base until the top of the seventh when a game-ending strike-three turned into a passed ball and the Silversword batter reached first.

On offense, Carolyn Cameron led off the bottom of the first with a triple to left-center and Caitlin Klug sent her home with a single up the middle.

The Jacks added single runs in the fourth and fifth for the 3-0 advantage. Klug and Francesca West each had a pair of hits while Cameron, Natalie Gallety, Marissa Slattery and Chrissy Motzny each had a hit. Galletly added a pair of RBI.

In the second game, Humboldt put a pair of runs on the board in the first, third, fifth and sixth innings. Slattery was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI while Galletly had two hits, including a home runs, and two RBI. Nancy Harbeson and Klug each had a pair of hits.

Tracy Motzny (14-2) recorded just three strikeout, but also allowed just two hits, both in the sixth inning.

Humboldt State faces Chaminade, Seattle and Saint Martin's Friday, the first day of cross pool play in the Tournament of Champions, hosted by Cal State Stanislaus.
