SAN FRANCISCO — (April 22) Sophomore first baseman Natalie Galletly had four hits, including three doubles, and drove in seven runs, leading Humboldt State's softball team to 8-0 and 5-0 wins over San Francisco State Sunday.

The Lumberjacks improve to 47-6 overall and 25-3 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association while the Gators fall to 28-31 overall and 17-17 in league play.

Humboldt made the most of its opportunities in both games, scoring eight runs on eight hits in the opener and five runs on seven hits in the nightcap.

Galletly and Marissa Slattery keyed the big five-run third inning in the first game, each driving in a pair of runs with hits to right field. Caitlin Klug recorded the fifth RBI of the inning.

In the top of the sixth, Carolyn Cameron singled to left, driving in pinch runner Felicia Miranda while Nancy Harbeson scored on a squeeze bunt by Klug. Cameron would also score in the inning, crossing the plate on Galletly's double to left field.

Lizzy Prescott (27-3) once again held down the Gators' offense, scattering four hits while striking out eight and walking one.

In the nightcap, the Jacks scored three runs in the first and two more in the fourth to collect their fourth straight shutout.

Galletly led the way offensively, going 2-for-3 with four RBI's. Megan Sutherland drove in the fifth run of the game on a triple to right center.

Tracy Motzny improved to 20-2 on the season, tossing a four-hitter to go along with a trio of strikeouts.

“Our pitchers are pitching well and we got some key hits, especially by Galletly and Sutherland,” said HSU head coach Frank Cheek. “Also, Coach (Shelli Maher-Sarchett) called a pair of good games.”

The Lumberjacks close out the regular-season in Arcata next week, hosting Cal State Stanislaus in a four-game series.
