ARCATA — Everybody got in on the action and every player scored in Humboldt State's 90-48 win over Academy of Art at the DeBeni Holiday Classic on Friday.

Employing its fullcourt press, Humboldt State jumped out to a 21-2 lead to start the game and never looked back on the way to the rout. The Lumberjacks improved to 4-3 overall while the Urban Knights dropped to 0-6 on the season.

"Our intensity was a lot better tonight, and the game was more fun to watch," Humboldt State head coach Tom Wood said. "The style of ball we played tonight seems to fit our team better. We're a better team when we press and get going up and down the floor."

Pushing the ball up the floor quickly much of the night was reserve point guard David Broome, who finished with a career-high six assists. Will Petty contributed offensively, finishing with 11 points off the bench, with Brian Morris adding 12 points and Zac Tiedeman 11.

Humboldt State's defensive pressure forced the Urban Knights into 26 turovers and kept their shooting to 34 percent from the field. The Lumberjacks also won the battle of the boards, out-rebounding AAU, 42-32.

Academy of Art was paced by Jonathan Burnett, Lance Olivier and Ivan Prema, each with nine points.

Saturday's action at the DeBeni Holiday Classic resumes with a 5:30 p.m. game between Academy of Art and Chico State. Host Humboldt State plays the finale against Notre Dame de Namur at 7:30 p.m.
