LOS ANGELES — Humboldt State squandered a 21-point lead and to come from behind in overtime to claim a 77-74 win over Cal State Los Angeles in California Collegiate Athletic Association men's basketball action Saturday.

With the win, the Jacks claimed a sweep of their roadtrip and their sixth straight victory. HSU is now 14-5 overall and 11-3 in the CCAA, while CSULA dropped to 11-8 and 7-7 in league games.

Zac Tiedeman kept the Jacks from the heartbreaker, scoring 22 points for the second straight evening. The senior guard was 4-of-5 from 3-point range, and hit all six of his free throws.

Brian Morris scored 18 points for HSU and Kyle Baxter added nine, including two free throws with five seconds remaining that put the Jacks ahead by three points. Dwayne Jones, one of the Eagles' heroes in the comeback attempt, hit on on the other end before Ernie Spada made one to seal the victory.

Jones paced his team with 19 points, equaling teammate Carl Hoffman for team-high honors. Chris Robinson came off the bench to score all 16 of his points in the second half for the Eagles.

The Golden Eagles surged back into contention with a 16-2 run fueled by Robinson and freshman guard Trevor Hopkins. HSU briefly stopped the run with four free throws by Tiedeman, but a pair of free throws by Hoffman and Robinson's 3-pointer pulled CSULA within five at 59-54.

Another 3-pointer by Robinson and his pair of free throws tied the game at 59-59 with 3:09 remaining to be played. The Jacks missed a chance to pull ahead again a minute later, and Dwayne Jones made them pay with a baseline drive and free throw that gave his team a 64-61 lead.

Tiedeman penetrated and dished to Atkins, who answered with a 3-pointer from the corner to again tie the game with 41.8 seconds remaining. Jones broke the tie with a pair of free throws, putting his team ahead with 18.9 seconds on the clock.

Tiedeman rose to the occasion again, scoring a jumper to tie the game and send it to overtime.

Humboldt State is back home for two games this week, taking on San Francisco State on Thursday and Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday afternoon. The latter game will be televised nationwide on CBS College Sports.
