Box Score SAN RAFAEL – Another night, another victory for the Humboldt State women's basketball team on Saturday afternoon. The Jacks defeated Academy of Art in their second game of the California Collegiate Athletic Association/PacWest Challenge hosted by Dominican University. Humboldt State outscored the Urban Knights 68-54.

The Jacks continue moving forward, starting the season 2-0. Academy of Art starts its season split with an overall record of 1-1.
Humboldt State dominated the game in the first half, gaining a 20-point lead over the Urban Knights to put the score at 42-22 before entering the locker room at halftime. The Jacks shined beyond the arc, putting up seven of 10 and a 45.5-percent from the field-goal range.
Whitney Howard carried the Jacks with 19 points, followed by
Lisa Petty and
Caitie Richards who added 17 each.
Bree Halsey and Petty both rebounded six times for HSU, while Ariel Dane posted a game-high eight rebounds for AAU. Lorraine Etchell and Alisa Griggs each scored 12 points for the Urban Knights.
Although the Jacks were outscored in the second half, 32-26, they were able to pull out the victory due to the cushion they had established heading into halftime. The Jacks gave up 13 points off turnovers in the second half, when they only gave up four in the first. Once HSU took the lead in the beginning of the game, the Jacks never trailed.
Humboldt State returns back home to Lumberjack Arena on November 18th to face Hope International at 7 p.m. as the Jacks look to carry on their winning streak.
