ARCATA- With the regular season wrapped up, the Humboldt State women's basketball team will travel to San Bernardino to take on CSUSB in the first round of the California Collegiate Athletic Association tournament. The Jacks, who are seeded in the five slot, will face the fourth seed Coyotes.
HSU and Cal State San Bernardino will play on Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. The winner will advance to the CCAA conference tournament, which will be held at Cal State East Bay beginning Friday.
The Coyotes snagged two wins from the Jacks this season. CSUSB defeated Humboldt (62-69) the first game and then again (86-84) in the second meeting in overtime. Humboldt has a chance to tie the all-time series with the Coyotes. The Jacks trail 5-6 after dropping the two losses this year.
The Jacks are coming off victorious back-to-back wins at Lumberjack Arena against Cal State Dominguez Hills (75-40) and Cal State Los Angeles (73-63). Lisa Petty leads the Jacks team in points, averaging 11.6 per game while Jeanette DeWitt finished the regular season with a 10.7 average. Bree Halsey tops the leader board in rebounds, bringing down 9.6 boards per game. The Jacks continue to see solid offensive performances from Kayla Williams who has made her way into the starting rotation on a regular basis.
