ARCATA – March madness has started but it quickly ended for the Humboldt State women's basketball team.
Three players scored in double figures, led by Kayla Williams 16-point performance and Bree Halsey's double double, but it was not enough for the Humboldt State to overcome Cal State San Bernardino.  The Jacks fall to the Coyotes in the first round of the California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament of Tuesday, 68-60.
Humboldt ends the season with a 15-12 overall record.
The Jacks faltered in something that has kept them alive all season.  Humboldt was 3-12 from behind the arc and earned the nine points in the last minutes of the game from Williams (2) and Caitie Richards (1).
The post-season matchup was a chance for the Jacks to redeem themselves after falling to the Coyotes twice in regular season play.   The Jacks dropped the first game at Lumberjack Arena 62-69 before giving the Coyotes a run on their court but losing in overtime, 86-84.
CSUSB was led by CCAA all-star, Eisha Sheppard, who contributed 21 points.  Sheppard was supported by Sabrina Gonzalez (13) and Amber Glasser (10).
With the win, Cal State San Bernardino will advance to the semi-finals on Friday.  The second round of the CCAA tournament will take place at Cal State East Bay.
