HSU visits rival Chico State Friday and faces Cal State Stanislaus Saturday. Both games tip at 7:30 p.m. PT.
Â
"Playing on the road at Chico State is another huge test for our team to stay focused in a tough environment, and to keep poised for 40 minutes of basketball," said Head Coach
Steve Kinder. "We accomplished this in Alaska on back-to-back nights and now we need to do the same here in northern California against our rivals Chico State and Cal State Stanislaus."

The Lumberjacks (8-4, 2-4 CCAA) captured home conference wins last weekend against Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State Los Angeles. The victories not only put the Green and Gold in the conference win column for the first time in the 2014-15 season, but also helped the team continue its five-game winning streak. The last time HSU won five-straight games was during the 2011-12 campaign.

Freshman guard
Malik Morgan earned CCAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors for his performances last weekend. The Eugene, Ore., native averaged 17 points per game, seven assists and three steals in a pair of CCAA victories. Morgan scored a season-high 18 points, dished out eight assists and swiped four steals versus the Toros. He was 4-for-7 from the field and a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line en route to a 16-point outing in Saturday's win over the Golden Eagles.
Â
Friday's meeting with Chico State will give HSU the chance to snap a two-game losing streak to its rival. The Wildcats swept the 2013-14 series and have won three of the last four meetings. HSU is 4-6 against Chico State under Kinder.
Â
"Chico State has great size and length on their roster," said Kinder. "They have good depth in every position and have created a winning culture under Coach Clink. They play smart basketball defensively and share the ball well on the offensive end."
Â
The Wildcats are 7-4 overall this season and 4-2 in conference play. Chico State picked up a win against Cal Poly Pomona last weekend, before losing Saturday to UC San Diego.
Â
Cal State Stanislaus has the same record as Chico State coming into this weekend's games. The Kinder-led Jacks are 7-2 versus the Warriors.
Â
"Cal State Stanislaus will be a tough game on the road on Saturday night," said Kinder. "Playing back-to-back nights and having to travel from Chico to Turlock is going to be a challenge. They have athletic players who make it difficult to get good looks offensively and are tough to keep in front of you defensively."
