ARCATA, Calif. –
Humboldt State men's basketball hosts Cal State Monterey Bay Tuesday in Lumberjack Arena for the first round of the California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament.

The Green and Gold aim for the same result as their first meeting earlier this month, but this time more is on the line. The winner of Tuesday's game will advance to Stockton and will face either No. 1 seed Chico State or No. 8 seed Cal State Los Angeles Friday afternoon.

HSU defeated Monterey Bay 87-76 on Feb 13. The Jacks led by three at the half, before outscoring the Otters 40-32 after the break. Thomas Witzel scored a team-best 24 points in the win.

The Otters roll into the postseason riding a three-game winning streak. Monterey Bay used a 13-point performance by leading scorer Ryan Nitz to capture a season-ending 75-65 win over visiting Cal State East Bay. Nitz averages 19.3 points per game, and he scored 24 points on 9-of-22 shooting in the Otters' loss to the Green and Gold.

Lumberjack Arena has provided a home-court advantage throughout the season for the Green and Gold. HSU is 14-2 at home and has won four straight games on the North Coast.

Malik Morgan is coming off one of his best performances of the season when he scored a career-best 24 points in the Jacks' regular season finale. Morgan is averaging 13.8 points and 5.2 assists per game.
