ARCATA, Calif. – Humboldt State women's basketball aims to bounce back from a tough road trip when it returns to the North Coast to face Cal State Los Angeles Thursday. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

The Lumberjacks suffered a pair of setbacks last weekend losing to Cal State East Bay, 70-45, and Cal State Monterey Bay, 56-43. Ashlynn Cox averaged a team-high 8.0 points per game during the road stretch. Riann Thayer had a team-high nine points and 11 boards against East Bay, and she is now averaging 4.3 points per game. Thayer has scored nine or more points in two of her last four games.

Los Angeles aims to bounce back from a 75-62 loss Saturday to Cal State Dominguez Hills. Junior Rikke Fabricius and freshman Da'Jah Jackson are the Eagles' leading scorers, averaging 14.8 points and 14.4 points, respectively. Fabricius and Jackson combined for 38 points against the Jacks earlier in the season.

SERIES BREAKDOWN
Humboldt State leads the all-time series 14-11. The Golden Eagles defeated the Jacks 79-68 in their January meeting. HSU's last win over Los Angeles came during the 2014-15 season.

COACHES CORNER
On last week's road trip
"Our scoring was down in both games, but I am more concerned with our defense and what we are giving up on the other end. Like I have expressed all year, we are not going to be a high-scoring basketball team, and that's ok. But we need to be effective and consistent on the defensive end. I felt like we took a step backwards in these last two games in terms of our defense."

On playing at home
"That should be a positive thing for us," said Bento-Jackson. "It is nice to be in Lumberjack Arena with the community and fan support. Hopefully we can thrive off of that, recover from our last two losses and have a good week of practice."

On the Golden Eagles
"We did not handle their press very well when we played them at their place," said Bento-Jackson. "We can expect them to have balanced scoring and good guard play. But as always, there are certain things we have to do as a basketball team regardless of the opponent. We have to get back to basics this week, especially on the defensive end."
