ARCATA, Calif. – Humboldt State women's basketball hits the road following a three-game homestand and faces Cal State San Bernardino Thursday. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

HSU lost to Cal Poly Pomona, 68-44, Saturday night in Lumberjack Arena. Madeline Hatch and Tyra Turner chipped in nine points apiece, and the Jacks shot a season-low 28.1 percent from the field against the Broncos. Turner remains the Green and Gold offensive leader with 12.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. The Jacks are 4-5 on the road this season.

San Bernardino has won four of its last five games and would be the fifth seed in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament if the season ended today. The Coyotes boast one of the conference's top defensive units, which allows just 60.6 points per game. Mya Johnson leads the Coyotes averaging a team-high 15.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. She recorded her team-leading 11th double-double with 23 points and 10 boards in Saturday's loss to Cal State Dominguez Hills.

SERIES BREAKDOWN
HSU leads the all-time series 12-10. The Jacks split the 2015-16 regular season series.

COACHES CORNER
On preparing for the final regular season road trip
"Both San Bernardino and San Diego are going to be tough opponents. They are going to be challenges for us," said Head Coach Michelle Bento-Jackson. "We just take it as we always do, we're just taking one day at a time, so right now our focus is on San Bernardino, and that is who we are preparing for this week in practice."

On what didn't go right against Cal Poly Pomona
"It was really disappointing from a few standpoints, but I really felt like we had a great week in practice," said Bento-Jackson. "The girls were coming out every day focused and determined on executing what we wanted to do defensively. We did a few different things that game and, as much as we did well in some areas, we obviously let Benton go off on us and with 32 points, that's just unacceptable. As I explained to the girls, we can't just be satisfied doing a few things well as far as executing our scout, and that was certainly on our scout that she was going to be a shooter and take a lot of threes. We didn't make her work for her threes, they were wide open shots, and she was knocking them down, so that obviously was very disappointing."

On Cal State San Bernardino
"They have Mya Johnson on the inside, and I'm actually familiar with Mya Johnson as she used to be in the same conference I was in when I was coaching in Texas," said Bento-Jackson. "She was at University of Texas-Permian Basin, so I'm very familiar with her, and they have a lot of different weapons on the floor. They have inside-outside threats and, as always, there are certain things that we have to do, not just with one or two players, but with all five players out on the court. We have got to execute on the defensive end. And then on the offensive end, against Pomona I never really felt like we got into a good flow offensively. We had some really good open looks and it just happened to be a night when we weren't knocking down shots ourselves. Obviously, we need a balance whether it be San Bernardino or San Diego. We need a balance in both offense and defense."
