Men’s Basketball Wraps Road Schedule with Loss to Tritons

LA JOLLA, Calif. – Humboldt State men's basketball saw its three-game winning streak snapped Saturday as UC San Diego defeated the Lumberjacks 88-67 in RIMAC Arena.

The Tritons jumped out to a 6-0 lead and led from start to finish in the Jacks last regular season road game. San Diego's high-powered offense shot 45.8 percent from the field and 47.4 percent from 3-point range.

Nikhil Lizotte followed up his career-best scoring performance with a 19-point effort Saturday. Lizotte sank four 3-pointers and was 6-of-13 shooting.

San Diego's Scott Everman led all scorers with 28 points and eight treys. Christian Oshita grabbed a team-high 11 boards as he helped the Tritons outrebound the Jacks 41-36.

HSU trailed by 24 at the half, but picked up the pace in the final 20 minutes. Malik Morgan scored 11 of his 14 points after intermission. Morgan led the Green and Gold with five assists.

The Jacks are eighth in the California Collegiate Athletic Association following the loss, and the North Coast squad would make the conference tournament if the season ended Saturday.

Home games against two of the CCAA's top three programs await the Green and Gold. Sonoma State visits Lumberjack Arena Thursday, and HSU hosts San Francisco State for Senior Day Saturday. Fans are encouraged to wear black for Thursday's Black Out Night promotion. Both games tip off at 7:30 p.m.
