Pioneers, Otters Visit Lumberjack Arena for WBB Action

| By:
ARCATA, Calif. - As the season winds down, the California Collegiate Athletic Association postseason field is coming into focus and this week's Humboldt State women's basketball homestand will make the picture even clearer. The Lumberjacks host Cal State East Bay Thursday and Cal State Monterey Bay Saturday evening. Both games tip at 5:30 p.m.

HSU is 6-2 at home this season and split last weekend's road trip. The Green and Gold saw a pair of late leads disappear versus Cal State LA and Cal State Dominguez Hills, but the Jacks pulled off a 62-58 win against the Toros.

East Bay is fighting for postseason position and is 9-7 in conference action. The Pioneers lost to Cal State San Bernardino by 10 points in their last game and have lost two of their last three outings. Morgan Greene leads Pioneer scorers with 15.1 points per game, and the sophomore dropped a season-high 33 points on Cal Poly Pomona last weekend.

The Lumberjacks sank the Otters by 24 points in a lopsided road meeting earlier this season. Monterey Bay is 5-11 against CCAA opponents, but the Otters edged Pomona 50-49 Saturday. Fans in the Kelp Bed witnessed a come-from-behind victory against one of the CCAA leaders Saturday as the Otters outscored the Broncos 19-8 in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

HSU fans are encouraged to wear black to Thursday's basketball doubleheader, and Lumberjack student-athletes will be recognized for their academic success at halftime of the men's game.
