LIVE STATS & VIDEO

ARCATA, Calif. – Fresh off a split at College Creek Field last weekend, Humboldt State men's soccer will get home field advantage again against Concordia (Ore.) and Academy of Art. The Jacks take on the Concordia Cavaliers Friday at 1 p.m. and will wait a day to take on the Urban Knights on Sunday at 2 p.m.

"It's a nice change of pace being at home for the first set of games. It's a great opportunity to build on these games before heading on the road throughout the rest of the season," said Head Coach Fred Jungemann. "Concordia is a very good team, very well-coached and organized. They fight, they chase, they press, and they are going to be very good competitors. It's going to be very close to the level of competition we can expect every week in our conference."

The Jacks beat Holy Names 2-0 on Thursday with a knockout performance by Isaiah Dairo who put both points on the board for HSU. The Jacks failed to find the momentum to finish on Saturday and suffered a 2-1 loss against Dominican University. Humboldt State stands at 1-1-0 overall.

"We are just trying to run a system that we've been practicing and these two games before conference helps us work on all the little details we need to figure out on the field," said goalkeeper and captain Bryan Hernandez.

CU won in their first preseason matchup against University of Mary, 2-0. They finished last season with a 5-10-2 record. Academy of Art began preseason play against SF State, a game that ended in a 1-0 loss. The Urban Knights followed up the loss with an overtime, 1-0, win against Cal State Monterey Bay.

HSU lost against Concordia (Ore.) in a 2-0 contest in 2017, and the Jacks claimed a 1-0 victory versus Academy of Art later that season.
