Humboldt State To Host Gators This Thursday and Travel to East Bay Saturday .

ARCATA, Calif..---  The Humboldt State Lumberjacks will return home to Lumberjack Arena to face the San Francisco State Gators this Thursday, December 12 at 7:30pm.  The Lumberjacks will travel to Hayward, Calif., this Saturday, December 14 for a 3pm scheduled conference game against Cal State East Bay.  During 4:15pm-8:30pm during the women's and men's basketball doubleheader versus SF State, the Department of Athletics will be holding Throwback Thursday 2 as vintage Lumberjack Athletic gear will be for sale for $1.00.
 
RECAP OF THIS PAST WEEKEND:  Humboldt State went 0-2 over the weekend on the road in the CCAA.  The Lumberjacks started the weekend with a 96-64 loss at Cal Poly Pomona despite Jackson Strong scoring 21 points and Leland Green adding 18 points.  On Saturday in Seaside, HSU lost 76-71 to the Cal State Monterey Bay Otters.  Rob Lewis scored 19 points to lead the 'Jacks while Leland Green chipped in 17 points and Zachariah Christian chipped in 10 points for HSU.
 
UPDATE ON THE LUMBERJACKS:  Humboldt State is 5-4 overall and 1-3 in the CCAA after this past weekend's results in Pomona and Seaside.  The Lumberjacks are averaging 83.3 points per game while giving up 83.1 points per game.  They are out-rebounding their opponents 35.9 to 34.9.  Leland Green leads the 'Jacks with his 15.6 scoring average followed by Rob Lewis' 13.9 points per game average (ppg) and Jackson Strong's 13.4 ppg.  Zachariah Christian leads the team with his 5.5 rebounding average and 59% shooting from the field.  Strong leads the Lumberjacks with his 46% shooting from three's, 89.5% shooting from the line and 11 steals.  Leland Green has dished out a team high 28 assists and Isaiah Sampson leads the team with his five blocked shots. 
 
BACK HOME IN THE LUMBERJACK ARENA: The Lumberjacks return to Lumberjack Arena this Thursday where they are 16-4 since the beginning of the 2018-19 season.  Humboldt State is 4-1 this season with its only loss an 86-73 setback to Sonoma State on November 21. 
 
STRONG FROM THREE:  Jackson Strong leads the CCAA with 32 three's made this season and 3.56 three's made per game average.  Strong is also second in the conference with his 46% shooting form beyond the arc.  In the latest NCAA Division II statistics, Strong is 14th in the nation in total three's made and 28th in three's made per game.  The senior shooting guard is two three's made from moving past Grayson Moyer into tenth on HSU's all-time list in three's made in a career.
 
ALL BUT ONE:  Leland Green has scored in double figures in all but one of the Lumberjacks' first nine games of the season.  Green is averaging 15.6 points per game with a season high of 31 points on November 8 at Point Loma.  Jackson Strong has scored in double digits in all but two games and Rob Lewis has scored in double figures in all but three.  Green also leads HSU with his 28 assists.
 
ASSIST/TURNOVER RATIO: As a team, Humboldt State has a +2.1 assist to turnover ratio heading into its two games this weekend.  The Lumberjacks have five players that have dished out more assists than turning the ball over.  The five 'Jacks are Leland Green (28 assists, 20 turnovers), Jackson Strong (17 assists, 7 turnovers), Amari Green (17 assists, 12 turnovers), Gabrys Sadaunykas (7 assists, one turnover) and Bryce Jackson (four assists, 0 turnovers). 
 
15.0 TURNOVERS PER GAME:  Humboldt State is forcing its opponents into 15.0 turnovers per game with 6.6 per game coming off of steals.  Leading the way with his 11 steals is Jackson Strong followed by Leland Green with 10. Isaiah Pope has eight steals while Zachariah Christian has seven and Amari Green and Rob Lewis each have six.
 
UPDATE ON THE GATORS:  San Francisco State enters this weekend with a 5-5 overall record and a 2-2 record in the CCAA.  The Gators went 1-1 last weekend defeating Cal State L.A. 73-72 on the road and losing at home to Cal State East Bay 80-62.  They are averaging 75.2 points per game while giving up 74.6 points per games.  SF State is out-rebounding its opponents 36.3 to 33.8.  Linton Aclese III leads the way for the Gators with his 19.8 points and 4.3 rebounds per game average along with his 10 steals.  Eche Okeke is shooting a team best 61% from the field while Zane Paddon is shooting a team high 44% from three's and Michael Diaz leads the team with his 87% shooting from the line.  Diaz is tied with Alex Manu is tied with Diaz for the team lead with 22 assists.  Humboldt State leads the all-time series 13-11 with the Gators, but SF State has won the last five games in a row.  The 'Jacks last defeated SF State 85-80 in Arcata on Dec. 12, 2015.
 
UPDATE ON THE PIONEERS:  Cal State East Bay is 7-3 overall and 3-1 in the CCAA after going 2-0 this past weekend.  The Pioneers defeated Cal State Dominguez Hills 72-48 at home and SF State 80-62 on the road.  They are averaging 75.2 points per game while giving up 65.3 points per game.  Cal State East Bay is out-rebounding its opponents 34.5 to 34.2.  Zafir Williams leads the way with his 20.7 scoring and 8.6 rebounding average.  He also leads the team with his eight blocked shots, 44% shooting from three's, 51% shooting from the field and 89.7% shooting from the line.  Nai Carlisle is second on the team with his 12.7 points per game average but has a team leading 31 assists.   Humboldt State leads the all-time series with Cal State East Bay 13-4, but the two teams split the series last year each winning on its home court. 
 
UP NEXT:  After Saturday's game in Hayward, Humboldt State will be in Chico, Calif., for a 7:30pm scheduled game with Chico State on Saturday, December 21.  This will be the Lumberjacks' final game in December before they return to action in the New Year on January 4 hosting Stanislaus State.
