Ja'Quan Gardner Lands AAF Offensive Player of the Week Honors

| By:
ARCATA, Calif. – Former Humboldt State running back Ja'Quan Gardner was named The Alliance of American Football Offensive Player of the Week following the San Diego Fleet's 31-11 victory over San Antonio on Sunday.

Gardner's record-setting day was highlighted by an 83-yard touchdown run, the longest scoring play in AAF history. The Ceres, Calif., native also set an Alliance single-game rushing record with 122 yards on 12 attempts as he averaged a staggering 10.2 yards per carry. He also contributed in the passing game adding 21 yards through the air on two catches.

Gardner ran for 104 yards on Feb. 17 and now owns the top two single-game rushing totals in the league this season. The 23-year-old becomes the only Alliance player with back-to-back 100-yard rushing games, and his league-best 281 rushing yards is 93 yards more than the next best rusher.

The Fleet will hit the road this week as they face the Memphis Express Saturday, March 2 at 1 p.m.
