ARCATA, Calif..---  After a two-game road trip to Southern California, Humboldt State will return home to entertain Cal State East Bay and Cal State Monterey Bay this weekend in a pair of California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) games this Thursday and Saturday, January 23 and 25.  Game times for both games are set for 5:30pm at Lumberjack Arena. 
 
RECAP OF HSU'S LAST GAME:  Humboldt State started the weekend with a 64-58 loss at Cal State Dominguez Hills this past Thursday evening in Carson.  
Alexia Thrower paced the 'Jacks with 17 points while 
Gabrielle Carbajal added 13 points.  On Saturday afternoon in Los Angeles, the Lumberjacks lost 80-74 to Cal State L.A. in a rematch from earlier this season.  Four players scored in double digits for the Lumberjacks paced by 
Tyra Turner's 17 points.  Carbajal and 
Madeline Hatch each chipped in 15 points while Thrower added 14 points for HSU.
 
UPDATE ON THE LUMBERJACKS:  Humboldt State return homes with a 9-8 overall record including a 5-7 record in the CCAA.  The Lumberjacks are tied for ninth place in the CCAA with Cal State Dominguez Hills.  They are one game out of eighth place (Cal State L.A.) and two games out of sixth place (Cal Poly Pomona and Stanislaus State).  Cal State San Marcos, UC San Diego and Cal State East Bay are in a three-way tie for first place followed by Sonoma State in fourth place and Chico State in fifth place.
 
The Lumberjacks are averaging 66.4 points per game while giving up 63.7 points per game.  They are being out-rebounded 39.1 to 32.7.  Three players are averaging double digits in scoring in 
Alexia Thrower (21.1 ppg), 
Madeline Hatch (10.3 ppg) and 
Gabrielle Carbajal (10.3 ppg).  Thrower leads the team with her 32 steals, 10.3 rebounding average, eight blocked shots and 52% shooting from the field.  
Tyra Turner has a team leading 74 assists while she is shooting a team best 80% from the line.  
Molly Dixon leads HSU with her 29 threes and 34.5% shooting from beyond the arc.
 
AMONGST THE NATION'S LEADERS:  In the latest California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and NCAA Division II women's basketball statistics report, the Humboldt State women's basketball duo of 
Alexia Thrower and 
Tyra Turner are listed amongst the leaders.  Thrower leads the CCAA in scoring and total rebounds and is 11
th and 21
st respectively in the nation.  Turner leads the conference in assists per game and is 31
st in the nation.  As a team the Lumberjacks are third in the nation in fewest turnovers and turnovers per game.
 
MOVIN' ON UP:  Tyra Turner is moving on up the career lists at Humboldt State.  She is second in assists (459), third in steals (209), seventh in free throws made (255) and ninth in points (1017).  
Madeline Hatch is ninth with her 127 threes made in her career.  
Alexia Thrower has scored 832 points and grabbed 453 rebounds. 
 
DOUBLE-DOUBLE:  Two Lumberjacks have recorded double-doubles this season in 
Alexia Thrower and 
Tyra Turner.  Thrower has seven double-doubles including one each of the Lumberjacks' last three games while Turner has one.
 
10.9:: Humboldt State is just turning the ball over 10.9 times per game while forcing 16.2 turnovers per game by its opponents.  The Lumberjacks are recording 7.2 steals per game paced by 
Alexia Thrower's 32 followed by 
Tyra Turner's 25.  
Molly Dixon and 
Gabrielle Carbajal each have 157 and 
Madeline Hatch has 14 steals this season.
 
11.9:  The Lumberjacks are averaging 11.9 assists per game with Tyra Tuner leading the way with her 72 total assists and just 36 turnovers in 15 games.  Two other Lumberjacks have a positive assist to turnover ratio in 
Gabrielle Carbajal (39 assists, 24 turnovers) and 
Molly Dixon (23 assists, 19 turnovers).
 
PIONEERS IN REVIEW:  Cal State East Bay enters Thursday's game with Humboldt State with a 13-5 overall record and a 9-3 record in the CCAA after going 1-1 at home this past weekend.  They defeated SF State on Thursday 63-52 and lost 57-54 to Sonoma State on Saturday.  The Pioneers are in a three-way tie for first place with Cal State San Marcos and UC San Diego.
 
The Pioneers are averaging 68.8 points per game while giving up 59.3 points per game. They are out-rebounding their opponents 37.9 to 29.3.  Regina Sankey leads the way for CSUEB with her 9.2 scoring average followed by Madison Schiller at 9.1 and Morgan Greene at 8.6.  Faith Turner is shooting a team best 59.8% from the field while Dalia Moore has connected on a team high 36% of her attempts from three-point land.  Turner leads CSUEB with her 78.6% shooting from the line and Madison Schiller has a team leading 50 assists and 35 steals while Morgan Greene leads the Pioneers with her 13 blocked shots.
 
Since 2010, Cal State East Bay leads the all-time series with the Lumberjacks 12-10 including winning seven of the last ten meetings.  The Pioneers won 59-58 in Hayward on Dec. 14, 2019 with 
Tyra Turner's 16 points leading the way followed by 
Molly Dixon's 15 and 
Alexia Thrower's 14 points and 12 rebounds.  Morgan Green paced CSUEB with 17 points and 16 rebounds. 
 
OTTERS IN REVIEW:  Cal State Monterey Bay enters its game at Stanislaus State with a 4-10 overall record including a 4-8 CCAA record.  The Otters are in 11
th place in the CCAA, one game out of ninth place (Humboldt State and Cal State Dominguez Hills).  They are averaging 58.9 points per game while giving up 66.1 points per game.  CSUMB is being out-rebounded 35.8 to 32.2.
 
Two players are averaging double digits in scoring in Sylvia Vartazian at 14.3 ppg and Katie Fitzgerald at 12.6.  Vartazarian leads the team with her 41.5% shooting from the field, 6.5 rebounding average and 12 blocked shots.  Fitzgerald has made a team high 21 three's and a team 79.2% of her attempts from the charity stripe.  Serena Toney leads CSUMB with her 34.6% shooting from threes while Camille Parker has a team high 32 steals and Chyna Dews has a team leading 40 assists. 
HSU leads the all-time series 16-11 with the Otters since 2007.  The Lumberjacks had a five-game winning streak against CSUMB until the Otters won 62-55 in Seaside on December 7.
