LACEY, Wash. -- The Cal Poly Humboldt women's basketball team picked up their first win of the season on Sunday afternoon against Saint Martin's University with a final score of 57-45. The junior forward,
Jaydon Williams, led the Jacks with 13 points, five rebounds, three steals, and one block.

The Saints of SMU jumped out in front early and led at the end of the first quarter 11-6 over the Lumberjacks. Half way through the second quarter, a
Sara Ahmadpour three pointer and free throws from
Citlaly Davalos gave Humboldt a 16-15 lead. With 30 seconds left,
Raenette McCrae made a layup that put the Jacks up 22-20 heading into halftime.
The Jacks opened up the second half by going on an 11-3 run, taking the lead 33-23. Saint Martin's cut the Humboldt lead to two points, but the Jacks maintained momentum heading into the fourth quarter up 40-38. Humboldt started the fourth quarter in similar fashion, going on an 11-2 run and possessed a 51-40 lead with only 3:28 to play. The Jacks sunk six free throws to close out the game with a final score of 57-45 and claim their first victory of the season over SMU.

Michelle Bento-Jackson stated, "It was definitely nice to get the win on the road. We were disappointed after yesterday and knew we needed to make some adjustments. I challenged the team in some areas and they really responded. I was proud of their effort tonight and execution on the defensive end. We had numerous players give great minutes and it was truly a team effort."
