ARCATA, Calif.--- The 21
st ranked Cal State San Marcos Cougars (21-2, 19-1 CCAA) defeated the Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks 74-49 in both teams' regular season finale at Lumberjack Arena.
Madison Parry recorded her tenth double-double of the season with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
FIRST QUARTER: The Cougars took an early 11-4 lead in the first four minutes of the quarter. A
Kaz Parks' jumper cut the guests' lead to 11-8 with 3:21 left in the quarter. Two minutes later, a Jordan Vasquez free throw capped a 7-1 run by the Cougars as they took a 18-9 lead. A jumper by
Sharon Roldan cut the deficit to 18-11 heading into the second quarter.
SECOND QUARTER: Cal Poly Humboldt (7-16, 6-13 CCAA) kept its run going to begin the second quarter when
Ashley Peralta connected on a trey off a pass from
Madison Parry to cut the Cougar lead to 18-14. Cal State San Marcos outscored the 'Jacks 11-4 in the next five minutes to increase its lead to 29-18. The visitors increased their lead to 36-18 heading into the locker room on a Jordan Vasquez lay-up.
THIRD QUARTER: Cal State San Marcos kept its run going in the third quarter as the Cougars increased their lead to 49-23 with three minutes left in the quarter. A
Madison Parry jumper off a pass from
Sharon Roldan cut the Cougar lead to 51-26. An old-fashioned three-point play by Akayla Hackson gave Cal State San Marcos a 56-28 lead heading into the final quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER: An Akayla Hackson layup incrased the Cougar lead to 61-30 ninety seconds into the final quarter. Humboldt went on a 13-2 run in the next five minutes to cut the deficit to 63-43 capped by a
Kaz Parks' three off a pass from
Sharon Roldan. A Jordan Vasquez lay-up increased CSUSM's lead to 65-44. A
Citlaly Davalos' three off a pass from
Kaz Parks cut the Cougar lead to 67-49. CSUSM finished the game outscoring Humboldt 7-0 to take the 74-49 victory.
NUMBER TEN: Madison Parry finished the game with her tenth double-double by scoring 14 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. She went six-for-16 from the field and two-for-four from the line.
ALSO IN DOUBLE FIGURES: Citlaly Davalos finished the night with 13 points. She went five-for-ten from the field including three-for-six from three-point land. Davalos grabbed four rebounds and dished out two assists.
SENIOR NIGHT: Sharon Roldan finished the night with eight points, two rebounds, two steals and two assists in 39 minutes in last her last game in the Green and Gold.
