‘Jacks Winning Streak Ends on Last Second Shot

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.--- San Francisco State's Jolene Armendariz hit a three with four seconds left in regulation to give the Gators the 54-53 CCAA victory over the visiting Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks. The 'Jacks had their three-game losing streak snapped this evening while Madison Parry recorded her sixth double-double.  Parry finished with 17 points and 16 points with Jadence Clifton chipping in 12 points and Sharon Roldan adding 10 points.
 
FIRST QUARTER:  SF State (7-11, 5-10 CCAA) scored the first six points of the game in the first three minutes.  The 'Jacks finished the quarter on a 16-1 run to take a 16-7 lead capped by a Jadence Clifton lay-up.
 
SECOND QUARTER:  Two free throws by Madison Parry increased the 'Jack lead to 18-7 in the first 10 seconds of the quarter.  A three by Ashley Hart cut the Humboldt lead to 22-16 with 4:26 left in the half.  SF State kept its run going as the hosts cut the deficit to 27-23 heading into the half.
 
THIRD QUARTER:  The Gators started the third quarter with a 11-3 run capped by a Muirae Gomez to take a 34-30 lead just six minutes into the new quarter.  A three by Sharon Roldan off a pass from Kaz Parks capped a 9-0 run by the 'Jacks as they took a 39-34 lead.  A  lay-up by Jadence Clifton gave Humboldt a 41-38 lead heading into the final quarter.
 
FOURTH QUARTER:  A Madison Parry lay-up off a pass from Jadence Clifton capped a 9-3 run by the 'Jacks to begin the fourth quarter as they took a 50-41 lead.  SF State followed that outscoring the 'Jacks 10-2 to cut the deficit to 52-51.  A Clifton free throw increased Humboldt's lead to 53-51 with just 15 seconds left in regulation.  SF State won the game in the final seconds on a three by Jolene Armendariz, 54-53.
 
NUMBER SIX: Madison Parry recorded her sixth double-double this evening. The 'Jack freshman scored 17 points and grabbed 16 rebounds.  She went five-for-eight from the field including one-for-one from three-point land and a perfect six-for-six from the line.
 
ALSO IN DOUBLE DIGITS:  Jadence Clifton scored 12 points in 32 minutes for the 'Jacks while Sharon Roldan added 11 points in 19 minutes off the bench.
 
JUST A GAME OUT: With three weeks left in the regular season, Cal Poly Humboldt (7-10, 6-7 CCAA) is just one game out of the sixth and final spot in the six-team CCAA Championships.  Cal State Domingue Hills and Cal State Los Angeles are tied for fifth with a 7-6 record.  The 'Jacks are tied for seventh with Sonoma State each at 6-7.
 
UP NEXT:  The 'Jacks will return to the court this week when they host Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State East Bay.  Humboldt will entertain the Toros on Thursday, February 10 and the Pioneers on Saturday, February 12. Tip-off for both nights is set for 7:30pm.
