Cal Poly Humboldt Falls to Chico State in CCAA Opener

ARCATA, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt struggled to overcome a strong offensive performance by Chico State, falling 77-56 in its California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) opener on Saturday afternoon at Lumberjack Arena.

The Wildcats (5-1, 1-0 CCAA) were led by Meadow Aragon, who posted a dominant double-double with 26 points and 10 rebounds, shooting an efficient 10-for-13 from the field. Jordan Allred added 22 points, including four three-pointers, to help Chico State secure the win.

Cal Poly Humboldt (1-5, 0-1 CCAA) was paced by Dailani Richardson's 17 points, with three makes from beyond the arc. Kaiija Lesane contributed 12 points and nine rebounds, while Jadis Watson chipped in 10 points.

Game Summary

Chico State built an early lead with an 18-10 first-quarter advantage, holding the Jacks to just 25% shooting in the period. The Wildcats extended their margin to 17 by halftime, fueled by Allred's precision shooting from long range.

The Jacks showed resilience in the third quarter, outscoring the Wildcats 20-19 behind a balanced offensive effort, but Chico State's defense clamped down in the final period to secure the victory.

The Wildcats shot 42.6% (29-for-68) from the field, including 35.0% (7-for-20) from three-point range, and converted 70.6% of their free throws. Cal Poly Humboldt struggled offensively, shooting 33.3% (22-for-66) overall and just 22.2% (4-for-18) from deep.

Chico State dominated on the boards, out-rebounding the Jacks 41-33, and capitalized with 19 second-chance points compared to Humboldt's five.
