Women’s Basketball to Face Biola In Final Non-Conference Road Game

ARCATA, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt women's basketball will continue its 2025-26 non-conference schedule on Saturday, Nov. 22, traveling to La Mirada, Calif., to face Biola University at 2:00 p.m. PT inside Chase Gymnasium.

LAST TIME OUT

The Lumberjacks dropped back-to-back home games last weekend, falling 82-75 to Northwest Nazarene on Friday before a 73-66 defeat against Central Washington on Saturday. Humboldt played competitively in both contests, showing strong offensive contributions from Shade Satica, Jordyn Smith, and Kyori Lloyd.

Against Northwest Nazarene, Humboldt built a solid starting foundation, matching the Nighthawks 22-21 early in the second quarter. Satica, Smith and Lloyd each contributed 18 points offensively, but despite a strong push in the fourth quarter, the Lumberjacks were unable to contain Northwest Nazarene's late surge. Humboldt's defense forced 11 turnovers and the team generated 24 points off turnovers, but struggled to convert consistently from three-point range, making 7-of-18.

In Saturday's contest with Central Washington, Humboldt again fought hard but fell. Smith had a team-high 24 points, followed by Satica with 18 points and Lloyd chipping in 14. The Lumberjacks stayed within striking distance for much of the game but could not overcome Central Washington's efficiency from beyond the arc (8-of-16) and perfect free-throw shooting (20-of-20) down the stretch. Humboldt recorded 16 points off turnover, but a slow third quarter left them playing catch-up in the fourth quarter, where they outscored Central Washington by seven.

The pair of games offered the Lumberjacks early insight into their rotations, defensive schemes, and scoring options, emphasizing the importance of consistency and execution as the team looks ahead to Biola.

LOOKING TO BREAK THROUGH AGAINST BIOLA

Biola (1-1, 0-0 PacWest) enters Saturday's matchup with a split record to open the season. Humboldt will aim to regain momentum, leaning on its scoring trio of Smith, Satica, and Lloyd as well as defensive rotations. The game will be an early-season opportunity for the Lumberjacks to test adjustments and sharpen cohesion as they continue their non-conference slate.
