Cal Poly Humboldt Falls to Streaking San Bernardino in SoCal

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt women's basketball was unable to overcome a cold shooting performance on the road, falling 57-43 to Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday afternoon at Coussoulis Arena.

Despite a strong opening quarter, the Jacks (5-15, 4-10 CCAA) struggled to maintain offensive consistency, shooting just 24.1% from the field and 11.1% from three-point range. CSUSB (9-10, 8-6 CCAA) capitalized with efficient second and third quarters to secure the win.

How It Happened

Humboldt came out strong in the first quarter, taking an 11-7 lead behind an early spark from Dylan Lovett, who finished with a team-high 13 points and seven rebounds. However, the Coyotes responded in the second period, outscoring the Jacks 17-8 to take a 24-19 lead into halftime.

CSUSB continued its momentum in the second half, using a 17-14 third-quarter edge to extend its lead before closing the game with a 16-10 advantage in the final frame. Tarryn Ross led all scorers with 13 points, while Jaida Jackson added 12 points and five assists for the Coyotes.

Jacks Standouts

Humboldt controlled the offensive glass with 17 offensive rebounds, converting them into 19 second-chance points. However, the Jacks were limited by their shooting struggles and 15 turnovers, which led to 24 CSUSB points.

Up Next

Cal Poly Humboldt will return home for a two-game home stand, beginning with a matchup against Cal State Monterey Bay (3-17, 0-14 CCAA) on Thursday, Feb. 6, at Lumberjack Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
