‘Jacks Stack Personal Bests, Top Finishes at Pacific Northwest Invite

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Cal Poly Humboldt men's track & field delivered a strong showing this weekend at the Pacific Northwest Invite, highlighted by program all-time marks, relay success, and numerous personal bests across two days of competition.

The Lumberjacks were led by standout efforts from Cameron Bishop, Joey Bowser and Jamie Saunders as Humboldt produced top finishes across sprints, distance events, throws and jumps.

FIELD

Humboldt's field athletes were led by Paul Domingue who placed fourth in the triple jump with a strong performance of 14.23m (46'8.25") against a competitive field.

In the shot put, Joseph Gonzalez recorded a fourth-place finish with a mark of 15.59m (51'1.75"), while teammate Derek Ray finished eighth with a throw of 14.50m (47'7").

TRACK

The Lumberjacks saw a number of standout performances on the track, highlighted by a dominant showing in the 4x400 relay.

Humboldt's 4x400 relay team of Cameron Bishop, Bennett Feldenkirchen, Joey Bowser and Jamie Saunders captured first place with a season-best time of 3:15.99, winning the event by almost five seconds. The performance ranks second all-time in program history.

In the sprints, Cameron Bishop placed second in the 100 meters with a season-best time of 10.65. Alonzo Paul followed with a time of 10.99, while Tosh Woods posted a season-best 11.06. Adam Smith and Thomas Clark also turned in strong performances for the Lumberjacks at 11.08 and 11.09, respectively.

The 200 meters saw several personal bests for Humboldt, including marks from Jamie Saunders (21.89), Tosh Woods (22.11), Alonzo Paul (22.00), Thomas Clark (22.34), and Jevon Cloy (22.96) while Bishop placed ninth overall with a time of 21.81.

Humboldt continued its success in the 400 meters as Joey Bowser finished second with a season-best time of 48.97, followed closely by Jamie Saunders in third at 49.32. Paul also added a season-best performance of 50.96.

In the hurdles, both Walker Dorris and Bennett Feldenkirchen recorded personal-best times in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing second and third overall in the meet with times of 55.24 and 55.41, respectively. Collin Friedman also recorded a personal best in the 110-meter hurdles, placing third in his heat at 16.05.

The distance group saw strong performances as well. Trevor Stewart made his debut in the 3000-meter steeplechase, finishing seventh overall with a personal best of 9:46.81. In the 800 meters, Jacob Christopher placed 12th overall after finishing second in his heat with a time of 1:56.76. Finn Granger also recorded a personal best in the event, timing in at 2:01.66.

Cal Poly Humboldt will continue their outdoor season this upcoming week as the Lumberjacks host the Cal Poly Humboldt Invite and look to build on their momentum and pursue additional qualifying marks as the season progresses.
