ARCATA, Calif. Cal Poly Humboldt women's track & field turned in a strong all-around showing Saturday at the Cal Poly Humboldt Invitational at the Redwood Bowl, highlighted by event victories, relay success, personal bests, and top finishes across the board.

Competing in front of a home crowd, the Lumberjacks produced standout performances in the sprints, middle distance, throws, jumps, and relays as they continued their prowess midway through the outdoor season.

FIELD

The Lumberjacks turned in a strong day in the field events, led by event wins and several personal-best performances.

In the hammer throw, Marielle Winuk continued her strong outdoor season by winning the event with a throw of 44.74m (146'9"), while Laura White followed closely behind in second at 42.94m (140'10"). Isabella Claussen also placed fifth with a mark of 35.57m (116'8").

Freshman Sophie Coil had another standout meet in the throws, winning the shot put with a mark of 12.10m (39'8.50") and placing second in the discus with a personal-best throw of 40.03m (131'4") that nearly made the top 10 marks in program history. Claussen added a personal-best mark of 11.24m (36'10.50") in the shot put to place fourth, while White followed in fifth at 10.99m (36'0.75"). In the discus, Claussen posted a season-best 33.11m (108'7"), while Katie MacLean added a personal best at 29.57m (97'0").

In the jumps, Lily Shadden captured first place in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 4.85m (15'11"), while Mia Roberts placed second at 4.82m (15'9.75") and Katarina Muellerleile added a personal-best mark of 4.62m (15'2") to place third.

Shadden also placed third in the high jump after clearing 1.52m (4'11.75"), matching teammate Katie MacLean, who finished second. Tully Leonard added a sixth-place finish after clearing 1.47m (4'9.75"). Muellerleile also contributed in the pole vault, placing fourth at 3.50m (11'5.75") to secure the second-best mark in program history..

TRACK

The women's track squad delivered a strong home performance with event wins, personal bests, and another standout showing from Humboldt's sprint and distance groups.

Freshman Kelsi Lytle led the way with a pair of event victories, winning the 100 meters in a personal-best of 12.38 before returning to capture the 200 meters in another personal-best performance of 25.27, the sixth best time in program history. Mia Roberts added a fifth-place finish in the 100 at 12.56 and later placed seventh in the 200 in 26.13, while Tully Leonard posted a personal best of 27.86 in the event.

Caitlyn Dougherty continued her impressive freshman campaign with another standout day, placing second in the 400 meters in 57.70. Brielle Jimerson followed closely behind in third at 58.20, while Leonard added a personal-best performance of 1:05.34.

The distance group once again provided a major boost for Humboldt. Katelyn Touchet won the 1500 meters in a personal-best 4:49.18, while Brinna Weiseth placed second in a season-best 4:51.72. Charlotte Leonard, Izzi Peila, and Lex Craven also recorded personal bests in the event.

In the 3000-meter steeplechase, Isabel Perez-Zoghbi claimed the event title in 10:29.34 to enter #3 all-time in the program and hit provisional qualifying standard. Humboldt swept the top three spots in the 5000 meters behind Emma Hanstveit (18:19.39), Anna Hanstveit (18:21.73), and Nayeli Huynh (19:17.25). Matilda Fitzgerald also added a sixth-place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:27.03.

The Lumberjacks also found success in the relays. Humboldt's 4x100 relay team of Kelsi Lytle, Caitlyn Dougherty, Brielle Jimerson, and Mia Roberts captured first place in a season-best 46.88 to improve to second-best in program history. The women's "A" squad also placed second in the 4x400 relay at 3:51.45 to enter third-best all-time, while Humboldt's "B" team finished third in 4:23.48.

Cal Poly Humboldt will continue its outdoor season next week as the Lumberjacks travel to compete at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic and Brutus Hamilton Invitational & Multi, looking to build on another successful weekend of competition.
