Cal Poly Humboldt To Compete at Three Separate Meets Ahead of CCAA Championship

ARCATA, Calif. – Cal Poly Humboldt men's track & field will split competition this week, traveling to three meets across California and Oregon; the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif. on Apr. 16-18, the Cal State LA Twilight in Los Angeles, Calif. on Apr. 16, and the Raider Invitational in Ashland, Ore. on Apr. 17-18.
The Lumberjacks will look to continue building momentum across all event groups while chasing qualifying marks, personal bests, and key team points. The men sit fourth in the CCAA standings, making this week a key opportunity to improve conference and national positioning.
LAST TIME OUT
Humboldt showcased strong sprint depth, with Cameron Bishop (10.88), Alonzo Paul (10.89), and Thomas Clark (10.95) all placing in the top seven of the 100m finals. Paul and Bishop also finished third and fourth in the 200m.
In the middle-distance events, Hunter Phillips placed third in the 800m (1:55.19), leading a group that included Elias Wiggins and Saul Jimenez, who also recorded top-10 finishes.
Humboldt saw additional success in the hurdles and field events, as Walker Dorris finished second in the 110m hurdles and Spencer Borin placed second in the 3000m steeplechase.
In the field, Michael Payan continued his dominant season with a first-place finish in the pole vault (5.05m, NCAA DII mark), while Joseph Gonzalez recorded top-three finishes in both the shot put and discus.
Overall, the Lumberjacks displayed strong depth and consistency across all event groups as they continue to build toward the postseason.
BRYAN CLAY INVITATIONAL
A select group of Humboldt distance runners will compete at the Bryan Clay Invitational, one of the premier distance meets in the country, held at Azusa Pacific University.
The meet features elite competition across all collegiate levels and provides a high-level opportunity for Humboldt athletes to chase NCAA qualifying marks and national-level times, particularly in the 800m, 1500m, and 5,000m events.
CAL STATE LA TWILIGHT
Humboldt will also send athletes to the Cal State LA Twilight, a one-day meet that offers strong regional competition across sprints, hurdles, and field events.
The meet provides an opportunity for the Lumberjacks to refine performances, improve marks, and continue building consistency heading into the final stretch of the outdoor season.
RAIDER INVITATIONAL
The Lumberjacks will round out the weekend at the Raider Invitational in Ashland, Ore., hosted by Southern Oregon.
Featuring a full slate of events, the meet will allow Humboldt to showcase depth across the roster while providing additional opportunities for athletes to compete and improve across all disciplines.
