Zach Shultis

Zach Shultis enters his second season as a member of the Humboldt State football coaching staff. He will serve as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Prior to joining the Lumberjacks, he spent three seasons as an offensive graduate assistant at San Diego State University. During his time at San Diego, Shultis worked alongside the offensive coordinator, running back, and quarterback coaches. He drew up pass concepts for the playbook and weekly game plans, and he was responsible for all breakdowns of opponent defenses and creating scouting reports.

Before San Diego State, he was a wide receiver and kicking coach at California Lutheran University during the 2013 season. The Kingsmen scored at least 41 points in three of their final five games of the season and averaged 38.2 points per game.

Shultis was an all-conference punter and a starting quarterback during his playing time at Cal Lutheran. He led the Kingsmen to their fourth-straight SCIAC Championship as the team’s quarterback in 2012. Shultis holds the school record for passing touchdowns in a season (24) and finished second in the country in Division III for passer efficiency. As a kicker, he was a perfect 48-for-48 in PATs.

Shultis received a bachelor’s degree in political science from California Lutheran and a master’s degree in liberal arts and science from San Diego State.
