Teigan Eilers

Teigan Eilers is entering his sixth season as a full-time assistant coach with the Cal Poly Humboldt Track & Field program. Eilers oversees the short sprints, relays, high hurdles, horizontal jumps, javelin, and multi-events, bringing a well-rounded coaching background and a strong emphasis on technical development, athlete growth, and competitive excellence. He believes in developing complete student-athletes through individualized coaching, technical excellence, and a culture built on accountability, consistency, and team-first leadership.

Since joining the Lumberjack coaching staff, Eilers has played a major role in elevating the program's sprint, relay, and combined event success. During his tenure, he has coached athletes to 42 top-10 all-time performances and four new school records across the men's and women's programs.

On the men's side, Eilers has helped coach athletes to 18 top-10 all-time performances across the 100m, 200m, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay, decathlon, and triple jump, including three new school records in the 100m, triple jump, and 4x400m relay.

On the women's side, Eilers has coached athletes to 24 top-10 all-time performances in the 100m, 200m, long jump, 4x100m relay, and heptathlon. His athletes also broke the 21-year-old school record in the women's 4x100m relay, further establishing Humboldt as one of the premier sprint programs in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

Eilers has also made a significant impact in recruiting, helping assemble one of the strongest incoming classes in recent program history. His recruiting efforts contributed to the Lumberjacks' historic third-place finish at the 2026 CCAA Outdoor Championships on the men's side, the highest team finish by Cal Poly Humboldt in the CCAA era.

Eilers graduated from Humboldt State University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, emphasizing Exercise Science and Coaching. Following graduation, he completed a coaching internship under Head Coach Sarah Ingram before joining the full-time staff. He has continued his professional development by earning the ALTIS Short Sprints Certification and completing Dan Tudor's Tudor University, specializing in collegiate recruiting, communication, and athlete development.

As a collegiate athlete, Eilers compiled one of the most decorated careers in program history. He was a three-time Men's Field Athlete of the Year (2013, 2015, and 2017), an honor voted on by his coaches. He twice received Humboldt State University's Excellence in Intercollegiate Athletics Award (2015 and 2017), recognizing outstanding achievement both academically and athletically, and was a finalist for the 2017 Humboldt State Outstanding Athlete of the Year. Eilers was also the recipient of the CCAA Hal Charnofsky Award, presented annually to a student-athlete who distinguishes themselves through excellence in both the classroom and athletic competition.

In 2015, Eilers was named USTFCCCA All-West Region after winning the decathlon at the CCAA Championships. During his senior season in 2017, he finished runner-up at the conference championships before qualifying for the NCAA Division II National Championships, where he placed 10th to earn Second Team All-American honors.

A Fortuna, California local, Eilers remains one of the most accomplished athletes in Cal Poly Humboldt history. He is the school record holder in the decathlon (6,908 points) and ranks among the program's all-time leaders, sitting 8th in the 100m (10.76), 5th in the long jump (7.18m / 23'7"), and 8th in the javelin (56.05m / 183'11").

His experiences as an NCAA All-American, school record holder, and award-winning student-athlete continue to shape his coaching philosophy of developing complete student-athletes who excel both in competition and in the classroom.
