Jamey Harris enters his eighth season as the head men's/women's cross country coach/assistant track/field coach at Cal Poly Humboldt.  Harris took over the reigns from long-time cross country head coach Scott Pesch,

Harris coached Tatiana Gillick to the 2017 NCAA Cross Country Championships. Gillick and Annie Roberts both earned All-Region honors while Roberts was All-CCAA and later broke the school record in the 10K. Roberts qualified in the 10K for the 2018 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.  Brayden Leach earned All-American honors at that championships while breaking the school record in the 800-meters. During the 2019 season, Daniel Tull earned All-West Region and All-CCAA honors while qualifying for NCAA Division II National Cross Country Championships.


Last season, Rosa Granados and Saedy Williamson earned All-CCAA honors with top ten at the CCAA Cross Country Championships in San Marcos, California.  Both earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team honors. Harris' teams have earned USTFCCCA All-Academic every Fall since he took over the Jacks' program.

Harris was the head track & field and cross country coach at UC Santa Cruz from 2014-17. He was a three-time Division III Independents Coach of the Year and coached runners to 19 DIII First Team All-Independent Awards in his three seasons. Harris guided the Banana Slugs' cross country program to new heights as nine distance runners earned NCAA All-Region honors.

While at UC Santa Cruz, Harris also led the Pacific Collegiate School's track & field program. He directed the teams to their best places in League and Section Championships in program history. Harris' squads had six California State Championship qualifiers and broke over 50 school records in three seasons.

Before becoming the Banana Slugs' head coach, he was the program's top assistant from 2008-09 and 2011-13. Harris also served as an assistant cross country and track & field coach at Auburn (2003-04) and Fresno State (2001-02).

Harris was the Director of Olympic Development for the Aggie Running Club from 1995-2002. He coordinated the development of emerging elite post-collegiate athletes and established Olympic Development division policies.

His best personal athletic accomplishment was his 1998 USATF National Championship in the 1500m.

Harris was a two-time NCAA Division I All-American and earned his bachelor's degree in Kinesiology at Fresno State. He earned his master's degree in Kinesiology at Auburn.

Coach Harris serves on the Cal Poly Humboldt's Social Equity & Accountability (SEA) committee as well as the CCAA Diversity & Inclusion Committee. He is also a member of the USTFCCCA Division II Cross Country Executive Committee, Women's Running Coaches Collective's Advisory Council, and the Six Rivers Running Club Board of Directors.
