Paul Castillo was hired as assistant coach for Humboldt State University women’s volleyball program at the beginning of the 2019 season. Castillo brings over a decade of coaching experience ranging from club, high school, junior college and NAIA.
Castillo joined the Lumberjacks after three years as Head Coach at Pacific Union College in Angwin, Calif. Where he secured a 14-10 overall record as a first time head coach. He first started coaching in 2004 at Santa Rosa Junior College as an assistant to Kelly Wood. In the 10 years coaching at Santa Rosa they won three conference championships with six state tournament appearances and three state runner-up finishes.
He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Sonoma State University where he played on the men’s volleyball club team where he earned a Division II Club National Title in 2010. He continues his volleyball career as an avid outdoor volleyball player, playing in several tournaments every summer.
