SAN BERNARDINO - Humboldt State softball claimed its 10th consecutive regular-season league title, sweeping Cal State San Bernardino, 5-4 and 8-7, in the final California Collegiate Athletic Association doubleheader Saturday.
The achievement pushed the program's 18th conference title since softball was revived at HSU in 1989 following a five-year hiatus. Current head coach Frank Cheek has directed to program to all of those championships, won in four different leagues.
The Lumberjacks clinched the CCAA championship tournament's top seed finishing the season with a 23-9 conference mark and 36-15 overall record overall, while the Coyotes fell 13-19 in league play and 22-34 overall.
"We ran the bases well today, unlike yesterday," Humboldt State head softball coach Frank Cheek said. "And we won the league for 10 years of dominance in three different leagues and we feel great about this."

Nikki Ketteringham hit her sixth homer of the season.

Ashley Oltjenbruns to score from third.
