TURLOCK - Humboldt State's softball team dropped a doubleheader to Grand Canyon on Monday, falling 4-1 and 6-5, in non-conference action.
With the losses, the Jacks dropped to 29-12 overall record while the Antelopes improved to 34-22.
In the opener, HSU gained a lead In the bottom of the fourth when
Lindsay Warren singled and then advanced to second on a
Geneva Perrine sacrifice bunt.
Caitlin Klug advanced Warren to third with a single and
Chrissy Motzny hit a sacrifice fly to record HSU's lone run.
HSU Humboldt State took a 1-0 lead into the seventh, but the 'Lopes plated four runs in the top of the inning to take game one.
In the second game, the 'Lopes broke a 5-5 tie in the bottom of the 11th inning when a runner placed on second via the international tiebreaker eventually came home on a passed ball.
HSU resumes California Collegiate Athletic Association play, hosting a four-game two-day series against Cal State Stanislaus on Friday and Saturday. Friday's doubleheader is slated for 1 p.m. and Saturday's twinbill gets underway at 10 a.m.
