Bobic hit the first shot of the night, a 3-pointer, and with 13:57 to go in the half another to give the Jacks a 13-3 lead.

“When I hit that first shot, I felt like I was going to be in a rhythm, so I wanted to keep getting the ball and keep shooting,” Bobic said.  “I've been in kind of a slump recently, so I have been coming in early and staying late after practice working on my shot.  I came in early today and had a real good feel in warm-ups and took that into the game.”

CSU Stanislaus cut the lead to five with 4:57 to go in the half 29-24, but a 14-2 run to end the first period gave HSU a 42-26 lead at the break.

The Lumberjacks held the Warriors to 31 percent shooting in the first half and forced 14 turnovers while hitting 53 percent of their own shots including 4-of-8 from behind the arc.

“When we all work hard on defense it creates offensive chances for us,” Brittney Taylor said.  “We ran our offense well and when they came back on us, we kept our composure and pushed the lead back out.”

In the second half the Jacks increased their lead to as much as 24 points and used more stifling defense to secure the win.  HSU held Cal State Stanislaus to 21 percent shooting in the second half and 26 percent for the game.

“The have a great one-two punch in (Katie) Busi and Alishea Kelly, who is averaging 17 points a game,” head coach Joddie Gleason said.  “We wanted to take one of those options away form them and Paige (Peterson) did a great job of shutting down Kelly.”
