SEASIDE – HSU out hits Cal State Monterey Bay, 10-6 in two games, but fell in both; 1-0 in the opener and 5-2 in the nightcap.
With the sweep the Otters improve to 15-7 overall, 13-5 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association play, the Lumberjacks fall to 11-13 , 4-10 in conference action.

In game one, Perez gave up just two hits; a double in the second and a single in the sixth.
In the second it was a leadoff double, followed by a sac bunt and a fielder's choice that gave the Otters a 1-0 lead that would turn out to be the final score.
HSU's best chance to get on the board came in the third. The Jacks had runners on first and second and two outs, but a strike out ended the threat.
Perez went 6.0 innings and allowed two hits and struck out five in the loss. Her record is now 4-4. For CSUMB, Diane Ortiz (6-5) allowed just four hits in the win.
In game two, three Lumberjack pitchers scattered four hits, but allowed five runs, three of which were earned in a 5-2 loss.
The Otters had two runners on with two out in the second. An error at shortstop allowed two runs to score and gave the Otters a 2-0 lead with out the benefit of a hit.
The Jacks came back in the top of the third. Successive singles by
Sammi Gilbert and
Nikki Ketteringham followed by a hit batter loaded the bases with one out. An RBI single by
Chrissy Stalf and a sac fly
Felicia Viveiros tied the game 2-2.
The score remained the same until the CSUMB fifth. The Otters used an RBI triple and sacrifice fly to plate two runs and push their advantage to 4-2. They added another run in the sixth and took game two 5-2.
Ketteringham and Gilbert each had two hits to lead the Jacks and
Vaneza Hoover took the loss. She is now 5-7 after pitching 4.2 innings and allowing four runs.
