TURLOCK — Chrissy Stalf drove in three runs and Lindsay Warren knocked in two to help Humboldt State softball defeat Western Washington, 6-5 and salvage one of three games Saturday at the Tournament of Champions.

Leadoff hitter Nikki Ketteringham ignited the Jacks' offense, scoring two runs after reaching base with three hits. Felicia Vivieros also had two hits in support of freshman pitcher Vaneza Hoover, who earned the win and improved to 5-6 on the season.

The Lumberjacks dropped their two earlier games at the TOC on Saturday, falling 14-6 to Grand Canyon and 4-0 to Chaminade University. Humboldt State enters Sunday's action with a 14-19 overall record.

In the first game of the day, the Jacks managed only six hits against winning pitcher Kasy Lalau, who struck out two and walked none in recording the win for Chaminade. Kristina Lewis was the hard-luck losing pitcher for HSU, scattering seven hits and surrendering only one earned run.

Humboldt State led early in the second game, and headed to the sixth inning tied, 4-4 with the 'Lopes. But Grand Canyon exploded for eight runs in the seventh on five hits and four Lumberjack errors.

Felicia Vivieros provided the offensive thrust for HSU with three hits, including a home run, and two RBIs. Geneva Perrine had two hits and Chrissy Stalf managed the only other extra base hit, a double.
