Head Coach Frank Cheek's Comments
“This week is a bit of a home coming for me and (Vaneza) Hoover. Ceres (Hoover's home town) is a little north of Stanislaus and I coached baseball, football and wrestling there for several years.” … I'm please with the team's hitting as a whole and (Chrissy) Stalf and (Nikki) Ketteringham in particular. Nikki went 4-for-4 with three doubles in one game against (UC) San Diego. I was particularly happy to see the way (Ketteringham) adjusted to how she was being pitched and how the defense was playing her. Viveiros also made some adjustments and hit two home runs.” … “Gracie (Perez) and Hoover are a very good 1-2 punch. If we had given those two better run support earlier in the year our record would have been different.” … “We are playing well right now. We have to keep helping ourselves, but are going to need some help from other teams to make the playoffs.” … “If we can take four games from Stanislaus we will continue to be in the mix. And then we get San Francisco State for four before we have to go to Sonoma State. But I'm glad we have Sonoma last. We will be a better team when we play them.”
