ARCATA - The Jacks overcame their home court jitters and ended their four-game home stand in an overtime win over San Francisco State, 56-48.
After loosing three-consecutive games at home, the Jacks bounced back in a California Collegiate Athletic Association game, advancing to 7-7 (4-6, CCAA) while the Gators fall to 1-13 (1-9, CCAA).
“This was a huge win for us,” said HSU head coach Joddie Gleason.  “It is a relief but the girls deserve it.  By the virtue of our schedule we played tough teams recently so it was nice to get this,” she added.
Humboldt came out slow in the first half against the visiting Gators but was able to capture the lead entering the second half with both teams fighting for possession.
"They (San Francisco State) are scrappy and they make it hard," said senior, Taylor Kilgore.  "We buckled down when we needed to and made plays," she added.
The Jacks trailed the Gators by eight points with just over six minutes to play but were able to fight back to force overtime minutes in a full Lumberjack Arena.
“It showed a lot of character to battle back,” said Gleason.  “The girls regrouped and got one to fall,” she added.
