Softball looking for wins on the road

ARCATA — The Lumberjacks will travel to San Francisco for their final California Collegiate Athletic Association conference trip of the 2011 season to face San Francisco State on Friday and Saturday.   The Jacks will look to improve on their 21-21 (9-15) record while matching up against the Gators who currently sit at 15-28 (8-20, CCAA).

The Lumberjacks hold a significant lead over San Francisco State in the all-time series, 97-25.  The Jacks took three of four from the Gators in the 2010 season.

The Jacks remain in ninth place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association standings with just two weeks of play remaining in the conference season…Humboldt standout Chrissy Stalf is on a home run hitting roll.  Stalf has hit 14 home runs in the 2011 season, just one shy of tying the current single-season record...The HSU offense is led Chrissy Stalf (.401 BA 57 H, 13 2B, 14 HR 37 RBI) and Felicia Viveiros (.403 BA, 52 H, 7 2B, 6 HR, 35 RBI).   With 37 RBI, Stalf is the team's top run producer followed by Viveiros (35) and Kirsten Nouzovsky (34)… In the circle, Vaneza Hoover has a 5.77 ERA.  Hoover has a 11-7 record in 25 appearances and 19 starts.  Hoover has pitched 108.0 innings and allowed 122 hits while striking out 85 batters… As a team, the Jacks are hitting .307 (second in the CCAA), the team ERA is 5.75 (tenth in the CCAA) and the fielding percentage is .966 (fifth in the CCAA).
