Softball honors seniors in last home series

ARCATA — The Lumberjacks will host their final home series of the 2011 season at the HSU Field and honor the senior players Geneva Perrine, Lindsay Warren, Kristina Lewis, and Nikki Ketteringham.  The Jacks will play Cal State San Bernardino beginning on Thursday and will look to improve upon the 24-22 (12-16, CCAA) record to close out the California Collegiate Athletic Association season. 

Schedule:

            Thursday, April 21 – 1 p.m. (DH)
            Friday, April 22 – 1 p.m. (DH) – Senior ceremony
            Saturday, April 23 – 8 a.m.

The Lumberjacks hold a lead over Cal State San Bernardino in the all-time series, 35-15.  The Jacks dropped three of four to the Coyotes in the 2010 season but were victorious in the fifth game, which was a non-conference game.   

Lumberjacks Notes
The Jacks advance to seventh place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association standings with just four games remaining in the conference season…The HSU offense is led by Chrissy Stalf (.404 BA 63 H, 16 2B, 15 HR 41 RBI) and Felicia Viveiros (.397 BA, 56 H, 8 2B, 7 HR, 38 RBI).   With 41 RBI, Stalf is the team's top run producer followed by Kirsten Nouzovsky (40) and Viveiros (38)… In the circle, Vaneza Hoover has a 5.29 ERA.  Hoover has an 13-7 record in 28 appearances and 21 starts.  Hoover has pitched 124.1 innings and allowed 134 hits while striking out 98 batters… As a team, the Jacks are hitting .307 (second in the CCAA), the team ERA is 5.75 (tenth in the CCAA) and the fielding percentage is .966 (fifth in the CCAA).

“We will honor our seniors on Friday.”…”When these girls were freshman they were part of a successful team and saw a National Championship early in their HSU career.”…”(Geneva) Perrine contributed and played great defensive in the National Championship series…was actually flawless.”…”(Lindsay) Warren had a great sophomore year.  She led the team in home runs…played two positions for us and has been a starter all four years.”…”(Kristina) Lewis has been one of the most dedicated players in her four years here.  Lewis really used the off-season to enhance her pitching.”…”Nikki (Ketteringham) has had great success and been rewarded for it.  She was an All-American her freshman year…leadoff hitter all four years…part of a two-time All-Conference team and National Championship team…and has definitely made her mark in the record book.”
