ARCATA — With the hopes to defeat a No. 25 nationally ranked team, the Lumberjack softball team will travel to Chico to face the Wildcats on Friday and Saturday. Humboldt is coming off two wins over Academy of Art in a non-conference match-up on Wednesday. The Jacks rallied back in both games to defeat the Urban Knights, 7-6 and 6-5. The Jacks and Wildcats will begin play on Friday at 1 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m.

The Jacks remain in ninth place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association standings with under a month of play left in the conference season…The HSU offense is led by Felicia Viveiros (.402 BA 41 H, 7 2B, 4 HR 27 RBI) and Chrissy Stalf (.379 BA, 44 H, 9 2B, 11 HR, 32 RBI). Viveiros tops the CCAA individual batting category with her .402 batting average while Stalf also makes the top 10 list, holding the seven spot. With 32 RBI, Stalf is the team's top run producer followed by Kirsten Nouzovsky (30)... In the circle, Vaneza Hoover has a 5.44 ERA. Hoover has a 7-5 record in 20 appearances and 15 starts. Hoover has pitched 81.0 innings and allowed 94 hits while striking out 57 batters… As a team, the Jacks are hitting .309 (second in the CCAA), the team ERA is 5.88 (tenth in the CCAA) and the fielding percentage is .963 (tied for sixth in the CCAA).
Chico State Notes
Chico State currently holds the third place spot of the CCAA standings. The Wildcats are coming off a solid performance at last week's Tournament of Champions where the Wildcats had victories over nationally-ranked Hawaii Pacific and Western Washington. Chico stands at 20-8 on the season with an 11-5 conference mark. The Wildcats are led by Britt Wright (.378 BA) and Hailey Stockman (.361 BA). Sam Baker continues to shine in the pitcher's circle, ranking second in the CCAA in wins (14), second in strikeouts (135), and third in ERA (1.26).
