Jacks split day one with Wildcats

ARCATA - The Lumberjacks traveled to Chico to face the No. 25 ranked Wildcats in a California Collegiate Athletic Association match-up and split the day with the host.  The Jacks dropped game one, 2-0, but ended the day on a high note with a victory of 6-2.

"They (Chico State) are a good team," said HSU head coach Frank Cheek.  "I was proud of our pitchers today.  We beat a ranked team and I am happy with today," he added.

The Jacks remains in ninth place with a 19-17 (7-11, CCAA) record while the Wildcats hold down the three spot at 21-9 (12-6, CCAA).

Jessica George picked up the loss for the Jacks but pitched a solid game for Humboldt in the circle.  George allowed six hits, while just walking one.

The Jacks wanted revenge in the second go-around after leaving the bases loaded with no outs in game one for a opportunity to take control of the game.

The Jacks put up their first four runs in the first and second innings and remained scoreless and until the seventh.
