Box Score TURLOCK – As was the case in the first meeting of the season, Jose Ramirez propelled Cal State Stanislaus over Humboldt State men's soccer for the second time.
After netting the overtime winner back on September 22, Ramirez found the back of the Lumberjacks net with only 6:17 left in the game to take the home Warriors to a 2-1 victory.
HSU had its chances all contest including a boot by
Ryan Connor in the 85
th-minute and a
Zach Hammond header, which flew high with 40 ticks left on the clock were both to no avail.
The California Collegiate Athletic Association's leading scorer, Hammond, did put the visiting Jacks in front in the first 15 minutes. The senior posted his league-leading 13
th goal of the season off a direct kick hit off the Warriors goalkeeper for a 1-0 lead at 14:53.
For the match, Hammond registered five with three on goal of the Jacks' 16 shots on the day compared to 11 shots from the home Warriors. Connor added two of his three attempts on goal with
Mitch Butt accounting for three more of HSU's nine shots on net.
Connor Wilkinson and
Zack Soufl had the other two tries on goal.
Trailing 1-0 at half, Cal State Stanislaus (8-8-1/7-8-0 CCAA North) tied the contest when Christian Madrigal put the ball into the goal off a side throw in at 61:02.
The game remained tied for the next more than 22 minutes until Ramirez guided a pass through traffic for what would be the game-winner with 6:17 left in the match.
In goal, the Jacks (6-10-1/4-10-1 CCAA North) saw
Ryan Ades make four saves.
HSU will complete its regular season on 'Senior Day' this Sunday afternoon starting at 2 p.m.
